For
those of you who are not familiar with this sort of program, you have a
team of women made up of mentors and mentees.
Mentoring (mentors) is another word for "feed my sheep". It is
using those "been there, done that" experiences in our lives
to help other women through similar circumstances in their lives. It is
coming alongside another woman and teaching her to go to the Lord and
His Word for all the answers.
Does it mean you have to know the bible cover to cover by memory? NO!
Does it mean you have to have the perfect life with the perfect family?
Of course not.
It means sharing those times in your life when all you had was your
faith to hold on to. It means sharing those times when God had to put
you in the shelter of a rock and cover you until the storm passed by. It
is showing them a faith in God that is bigger than any circumstance. It
is offering encouragement and assurance in being a wife and mother. It
is showing her that God is there for her too.
Mentees are women seeking a godly role model. She needs someone who will
help her understand how to live as a Christian woman.
The book of Titus clearly tells us that we as women have an important
role to play in the lives of younger women and no one else can take our
place. We can and will make a difference in the lives of others. What a
profound effect one person can have on the world, by investing in
another's life. The choice to mentor can impact a life, a community and
ultimately, the
Kingdom
of
God
Psalm 145:4
One generation shall praise
thy works to another,
and shall declare
thy mighty acts.
